It’s the month to celebrate Oktoberfest, what more could you want?! October has to be my favorite month- I love Oktoberfest celebrations (even a non-beer drinker can enjoy them) and Halloween is probably my favorite holiday… This is the second year in a row I am going to celebrate them together. We started the Halloween party tradition last year (hosting a party always gives us a push to finish a project…) and we will continue it this year.
This year is a little different because we are also celebrating my Mom’s 60th birthday! YAY! Basically, it will be good company, good food, and hopefully some pretty fun costumes.
I really ran with the Oktoberfest theme last year with food and it was a hit so I plan to repeat that, especially now that we’ve tried and tested some great recipes.. I will be concentrating this year on things I can make ahead and freeze because I am traveling with work so much this month, but its great because that means you can also make them ahead and who doesn’t love a quick and easy recipe that is no fuss for a party!?
Today I am sharing this no-fail soft pretzel recipe from Alton Brown. We’ve made this about 5 times since last Halloween and they always turn out AMAZING! You’ll definitely need to use a stand mixer and a dough hook. I wouldn’t try this without….. Also, this recipe makes 8 “normal” twisted soft pretzels and about 120 (wow!) pretzel nuggets.
