Typically the Fourth of July is celebrated with huge cookouts and tons of people (at least in my family). I threw together a quick and easy patriotic tablescape that would be great for a Sunday brunch or a smaller gathering.
As cutesy as you can get to play up the holiday, I really wanted to go for a more low-key vibe. I started with a chambray tablecloth and used bamboo placemats to form a runner. I think the natural element brings an outdoorsy feel and keeps it fresh. I went for a cheap big box store variety floral bouquet since they are always available but wanted to select one with red and blue (purple). I used a vintage scale to add height to the table, and used cheap flags and pinwheels to bring in the a more patriotic vibe. Brass chargers and candlesticks make it feel special, while red napkins complement the overall theme.
It turned out kind of cute and whimsical and feels way more my style than going real heavy on the theme. I could totally entertain like this..
