Oh, Deer!

Oh, deer! Our Halloween party crept up on us. I can’t believe Saturday is ONE day away! Life has been a bit crazy with work travel and party prep and I have had next to no time to do anything with my costume.

I have never been one to go crazy and spend a ton of money for Halloween costumes, it has always seemed a little silly to me so I typically find something in my closet to wear. This year is no exception.  But to spice it up a little, I did do a little DIY for it and I am beyond thrilled with how it turned out, see for yourself!

ohdeerSupplies:

  • Headband
  • Felt
  • Faux fur trim
  • Pom Pom (flower center)
  • Floral
  1. I made a cute little felt anemone by gluing a small black pom pom onto a piece of floral wire, surrounded by grey felt (cut into a small strip and slashed), and off white felt petals. I finished off the back of the flower with a small green felt circle with a little “x” cut into the center and slid it onto the floral wire and glued tightly to help hold all the pieces together. TIP: Use a glue gun with a high and low setting and keep it on low. Your fingers will thank you!
  2. I made a pattern for the ears leaving a long rectangular tail of felt attached to wrap around the headband.
  3. I glued an off white smaller ear shape into them for dimension and then glued and wrapped this around the headband.
  4. I cut a piece of felt for the tail and glued the faux fur to pop off of it. I folded the edges of felt around the fur at the bottom and ran a quick stitch across

On the day of, I will use dark foundation to create contrast around my eyes, and I’ll use the white eye pencil to draw on pretty white dots. Naturally, I will keep my eye makeup dark and dramatic and use these flirty lashes to create drama. I will draw on a nose with the black pencil and set all my makeup with setting spray.

With these DIY’s I plan to keep my clothes pretty simple. A tan tunic and some black tights with Black ballet flats….comfy and cute!

What about you? Do you go all out for Halloween or do you keep it simple?
